Borzoi 16 Month 2012 Calendar. The Borzoi is a Russian term for sight hounds, with the Tasy, Taigan, South Russian Steppe Hound, and Chortai all being classified as Borzois. The size, speed, strength and symmetry of this breed make it a superb hunting machine.
Wolf coursing was at one time popular among the Russian Aristocracy. The Borzoi could easily outrun most wolves - working in pairs, the dogs would grab their prey behind the ears, and hold it to the ground. For almost a century the breed has been bred outside Russia strictly for companionship and thus it has become a gentle and amenable companion for people of all ages.
