The elegant, often affectionate Dobermann is a classic example of the industriously successful dog-breeding programmes that took place in Germany just over 100 years ago. Today, this obedient, alert, and resourceful breed is a companion and service dog all over the world. Due to unscrupulous breeding, nervousness and fear biting can occur in some individuals.
The breed is believed to have originated in the early 1800's and has been born out of the Rottweiler, German Pinscher, Weimaraner, English Greyhound and Manchester Terrier.
