Maltese 16 Month 2012 Calendar. Once called the Maltese Terrier, this good-tempered, sweet-natured, sometimes sensitive breed does not shed its hair. It develops a long, luxurious coat, which can become matted; especially at around 8 months of age when he puppy coat is replaced by adult hair.
It is thought that the Phoenician traders brought the Melita (old term for Malta) breed to Malta over 2,000 years ago.
