Schnauzer (US) 16 Month 2012 Calendar. The Schnauzer is a vigilant guard dog from which the miniature and giant breeds later evolved. The German artist, Albrecht Durer painted dogs of this conformation, as did Rembrandt.
It is largely thought that this ancient breed is a cross between spitz and guarding dogs. Although today it is kept primarily as a companion dog. This primarily difference between the European and US breeds is that the US Breed's ears are clipped to stand upright and the colour of its coat is predominantly darker.
